Sabah gov’t has right to ban anyone from entering

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 7 – The state government has the authority to ban any individual who poses a threat to peace and harmony from entering Sabah.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said the official barring of several people, including opposition leaders, from the state was made after taking the public interest and security into consideration.

“It is in our power to do so, and only a foolish government lets any crook into our land.

“If they have bad intentions, want to incite and divide the people, the state government has the prerogative to block them from coming here,” he said during the state assembly sitting here.

Musa said this when tabling the additional expenditure bill for 2017, in response to Christina Liew (PKR-Api-Api) urging him to reconsider banning individuals, including opposition leaders like Nurul Izzah Anwar and Tian Chua, from entering Sabah.

In November 2015, Sabah’s legislative assembly approved a special motion to ban Nurul Izzah and Tian Chua from entering the state.
