KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 6 – Four foreigners with links to the Islamic State (IS) were arrested in Sandakan, Sabah on Monday (Dec 6), said Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pix).
The Inspector-General of Police said the men were high on the police’s wanted list.
“They were using Sandakan as a transit point to go into the Southern Philippines,” he told a press conference at the launch of the Crime Prevention: Snatch Theft and Pickpockets campaign outside Pavilion mall here on Wednesday (Dec 6).
He said the men, aged 31 to 40, were detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).
Mohamad Fuzi had said that the man, Abu Paliyak or Kamaner Paliyak @ Yusof, was also high on the police’s wanted list, and was believed to have been involved in several robberies with various groups operating in southern Philippines, including the Abu Sayyaf and Remy Group kidnap-for-ransom outfit.
