KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 — A section of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) at Hospital Kuala Lumpur caught fire around noon today.
According to a City Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, a distress call was made around 12.30pm to report the blaze.
Four fire engines have been deployed to the location to control the blaze.
HKL director Datin Dr Nor Akma Yusuf released a statement to say the fire occurred at one of IPFN’s stores and has since been extinguished.
“The surrounding buildings were evacuated of patients, visitors and hospital staff according to procedure.
“So far, no casualties or deaths have been reported,” she said.
She gave her assurance that no services at HKL were disrupted and said everything was functioning as normal.
The cause of the fire was still being determined, she said before asking the public not to speculate on the incident. – Malaymail
