KUALA LUMPUR, July 19 – The Dewan Rakyat today saw Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming earning the praise of Opposition leader Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for the former’s professional conduct in handling the sitting.
Although today is his first day on duty, Nga was fair toward Ahmad Zahid (BN-Bagan Datuk) who admonished RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) for not asking for permission to ask for an explanation during the debate on the King’s opening address.
“Yang Berhormat, I’d like to remind you to ask for permission before standing up and speaking. We must follow the rules. Please sit down. Continue Bagan Datuk,” Nga had said.
The same happened when Rayer stood up using the Parliament’s Standing Orders to ask for Ahmad Zahid to retract his use of the word ‘munafik’ (hypocrite).
Nga allowed Ahmad Zahid to explain his use of the word.
“Yang Berhormat, please give room to Bagan Datuk to explain,” Nga said.
