KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 – Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said low voter turnout at Port Dickson by-election is a sign that the people are protesting against Pakatan Harapan over its failure to fulfil election promises.
The Pas president said although he respected the outcome of the by-election which saw the defeat of its candidate Lt Col (Rtd) Mohd Nazari Mokhtar.
“Pas respects the people’s decision in the by-election although it was done for the sake of someone’s political career.
“I also want to thank the people for their trust in Pas as seen in the increasing number of voters for the party,” Hadi said in a press statement.
“This low turnout proves that people are boycotting an election that is done for one person’s sake,” Hadi said.
Hadi also congratulates Mohd Zahari for putting up a good fight.
“Mohd Nazari has shown resilience and hardwork in carrying out the party’s decision to contest this election.
“I also want to congratulate Pas election machinery, NGOs, the police and media practitioners for their hard work.” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
