KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 – The battle for the MCA presidency at the party’s elections on Nov 4, widely tipped to be a straight fight between Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and Gan Ping Sieu, could turn out to be a three-way battle.
The contenders are Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong, Gan Ping Sieu, and surprise candidate Ngoo Teck Keong.
Ngoo is from the Beruas MCA division in Perak.
MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has already indicated that he would not be defending the presidency.
The deputy presidency on the other hand will see a straight fight between Datuk Tee Siew Kiong and Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon
Ping Sieu bakal mencabar Timbalan Presiden MCA, Ka Siong, satu-satunya calon MCA yang memenangi kerusi Parlimen pada 9 Mei lalu.
The fight for the vice-presidency is a packed affair with nine contenders. They are Datuk Tan Teik Cheng, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker, Ooi Siew Kim, Ei Kim Hock, Lau Lee,Lim Chin Fui, Yew Teong Look, Tan Seong Lim and Lim Ban Hong.
The MCA Youth chief post will see a duel between Nicole Wong Siaw Ting dan Ng Kian Nam. The MCA Youth deputy presidency will also see a straight fight between Tan Chee Hiong and Kang Choo Nge.
There will be no contest for the Wanita MCA national line-up of 31 elected posts – chairman, deputy chairman, four vice-chairmen as well as 25 central committee members.
Incumbent MCA Wanita chairman Datuk Heng Seai Kie was returned unopposed, as was her deputy Wong You Fong.
The new Wanita deputy chairman is Wong You Fong and the four vice chairmen are Wang Kim Lean, Lim Nget Yoon, Chiew Hong Lan and Pamela Yong.
All the candidates were present at the nomination process which ended at 5pm at Wisma MCA on Monday.
