KUALA KANGSAR, Nov 11 – Members of the Perak football team will each receive RM10,000 and a plot of land from the state government for winning the Malaysia Cup on Oct 27.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said the tokens of appreciation will be handed to each player and football officer in a ceremony soon.
“The players and officers were conferred awards by the Sultan of Perak yesterday, and the state government will give RM10,000 to each of them.
“Besides that, we will also give a plot of land for housing for each player and officer. The location has yet to be ascertained, but we will definitely give it to them,” he said.
Perak won the Malaysia Cup against Terengganu following a penalty shootout of 4 against 1 after a draw at full time at the Shah Alam Stadium in Selangor last month.
It was the first time in 18 years that Perak took home the trophy.
Ahmad Faizal was speaking at a press conference after attending the Larian Hari Keputeraan Sultan Perak 2018 at Dataran Pavilion here today, held in conjunction with Sultan Nazrin’s 62nd birthday celebration.
Asked whether the Perak Football Association (Pafa) will also provide incentives to the Perak team, Ahmad Faizal said he was unsure about the matter.
“The president stepped down yesterday, and I have yet to contact (Pafa),” he added.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizal said incentives will also be given to Perak’s hockey team for winning the Razak Cup on Nov 3.
“I can’t make the announcement today, since we have yet to discuss the matter in our exco meeting. However, incentives will be given to them and we should be proud of their achievement,” he added.
The Perak hockey team clinched the Razak Cup Division One title when they defeated Terengganu 3-1 on a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in regulation time at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil last week.
