KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should decide the fate of ministers and their deputies with dubious degrees, said Khalid Samad.
The Federal Territories minister said it was the prime minister’s prerogative to select his federal ministers and his privilege to remove them for any transgressions.
“It is up to the prime minister. It is his Cabinet and he appointed it,” he told reporters today when asked about demands for the resignations of government leaders who falsify their academic credentials.
One target of these demands is Deputy Foreign Minister Marzuki Yahya, who this week clarified that his “Cambridge” degree was from the US-based Cambridge International University, a suspected degree mill, and not the University of Cambridge in the UK.
